How to Block Websites for Employees Using Seqrite Endpoint Security & UTM
In today’s workplaces, maintaining productivity and securing your network is critical. If you’re using Seqrite Endpoint Security (EPS) or Seqrite UTM, you can easily block employees from accessing unwanted websites—or block all websites entirely. Here’s how you can do it.
Method 1: Using Seqrite Endpoint Security (EPS)
This method blocks websites directly on employees’ computers, where the Seqrite Endpoint client is installed.
Step 1: Log in to the Seqrite EPS Console
Open your browser and go to: https://<your-seqrite-server-ip>:<port>/eps
Login using your admin credentials.
Step 2: Edit or Create a Policy
Navigate to Policies.
Either edit the Default Policy or create a New Policy.
Step 3: Enable Web Access Control
Go to the Web Access Control section.
Enable the feature (Turn it ON).
Step 4: Block All Categories
Select all categories like Social Media, Entertainment, News, Adult Content, etc.
Set them to Block.
Step 5: Block All Websites (Optional)
If you want to block everything, except a few websites:
Add . in the Blocked URLs list.
You can add specific websites to the Allowed URLs, such as your company’s internal tools.
Step 6: Apply the Policy to Employees
Assign the policy to specific User Groups or Computers.
Step 7: Force Policy Update
Ask users to restart their computers.
Or, go to the console and trigger “Force Update Policy” to apply changes immediately.
Method 2: Using Seqrite UTM (Unified Threat Management)
This method blocks websites for the entire office network.
Step 1: Log in to the UTM
Go to: https://<utm-device-ip> (Ask your IT admin if you don’t know the IP.)
Step 2: Open Firewall or Web Filter
Go to Firewall Rules or Web Filter.
Step 3: Block Internet Access
Create a new firewall rule:
Source: LAN (internal network)
Destination: Any
Action: Block
Or using the Web Filter:
Enable Web Filtering.
Block all web categories.
Optionally whitelist websites you want employees to access.
Step 4: Save and Apply
Save the rule and apply it. All outgoing web traffic will be blocked according to your settings.
Tips & Best Practices
Whitelisting: You can allow only selected websites like your ERP, CRM, or company intranet.
Phones on Wi-Fi: If employees connect their phones to the office Wi-Fi, block those devices via the UTM too.
Monitoring: Regularly review the web access logs to fine-tune your policies.
